sharper than the sword

prose is safer than talking face to face
any day and poetry is even more so
why even the most vulnerable
and truest of feelings can be
carefully colorfully cloaked
in a mantle of metaphor
shielded by images
protected by nuance
from anyone who
wields a stance
as sidelong as
a glance can
carve a
tender
